New to wallets? Please read this article first.

Hardware wallets are probably the most robust form of security you can have for your Bitcoins or any other cryptocurrency. They allow you to send and receive cryptocurrencies on any computer. The way the hardware wallets achieve maximum security is by storing your private key and signing your Bitcoin transactions offline so someone trying to “hack” your wallet remotely won’t be able to do so. Most hardware wallets also use a second screen/device to verify actions on your wallet such as signing transaction. This way, if a hacker gains control over your computer, he still can’t do any harm since he requires access to the physical device connected to your computer as well.

The TREZOR model T features

Intuitive UI and vibrant touchscreen.
When you first hold the TREZOR model T, the first thing you will notice is the staple of the model T — its large touchscreen. Plug your new TREZOR in, and the screen will illuminate you, showing off its vibrant colors, waiting for your instructions. Together with its naturally intuitive interface, the model T offers an unparalleled experience for all users alike.

Introducing improved security.
As the TREZOR T sports a touchscreen, all operations requiring entry of confidential data will be done exclusively on the device screen. You can be sure no one can see your PIN or your Recovery seed, just remember to cover the TREZOR when you enter them. Thanks to the on-device PIN entry, the model T does not need to communicate with your computer before you unlock it with your correct PIN. In fact, it will only draw power, until you authenticate yourself, leaving nothing to chance.

Advanced functions and coin support.
TREZOR T runs on an entirely new firmware, written from scratch, dubbed the TREZOR Core. When we developed this new firmware, we leveraged from all the past experiences we have earned while working on different projects, including the original TREZOR One.
Continuing our tradition and faith in open-source code, the TREZOR Core is also open-source, available for review and adaptation. But that’s not the only merit of the new system. The most important feature of Core is that it was written with expansibility in mind, allowing for safer and easier implementation of various new functions that were previously difficult to program. This means that we are looking at expanded support for different new coins and functions in TREZOR T, down the road.

Expansibility explained.
Looking for more proof about the T’s future? The device is ready for all kinds of integrations and features. It runs on a faster processor and even has micro SD card slot for data encryption. The model T is also future-ready with USB-C connector, allowing you to connect it on-the-go seamlessly.

Backup & restore.
The entire device is backed up by a simple 12 word phrase, the recovery seed, compatible with the common standards for HD wallets (BIP32/39/44). Recover your seed on a new device and you can start managing your wallet from your favorite device. Of course, you can also restore a 24 word seed on the TREZOR T.

0. Check the warranty information

Here it is for Trezor One.

1. Learn how PIN works.

PIN protects your TREZOR from unauthorized access. Use at least 4 different numbers. Try to avoid simple PINs as ‘1234’. During the TREZOR setup, you will enter your new PIN twice. Notice that the numbers shown on TREZOR change between the entries.

2. Understand the recovery seed.

Recovery Seed is the 24-word long recovery phrase, with which you can restore your wallet, in case of theft or loss. It is absolutely crucial to write down the seed! The recovery seed will be generated for you during the setup of your TREZOR. Never make a digital copy of your recovery seed and never upload it online. Keep your recovery seed in a safe place. TREZOR cannot be held liable for financial losses incurred through the client’s improper care of sensitive information.
