5 Cryptocurrencies to watch in December 2017

This article shows our top picks for December 2017. 3 of the 5 cryptocurrencies focus on supply chains. Tho we think this is a really important market for blockchain technology.

    1. Waltonchain (WTC)
    2. Modum (MOD)
    3. Loopring (LRC)
    4. VeChain (VEN)
    5. ICON (ICX)

1. Waltonchain (WTC)

1. Waltonchain (WTC)

Waltonchain (WTC) is a Chinese built blockchain project that aims to track physical items on the blockchain using RFID technology. By placing an RFID tag on physical items such as clothing, Walton can track where items are in the manufacturing and retail process. This for automated updates on the location of an item without the need for manual scanning. This will decentralize the supply chain, providing information on the history of the product. The information can be used to improve the product, track manufacturing errors and reduce costs.

On december 10th WTC is going to launch their ‘Gaurdian Masternodes’.

PROS:
  • Experienced team
  • Physical working product
  • Own blockchain
  • Masternodes
  • Low in price
  • Low in marketcap

CONS:
  • Lack of communication

2. Modum

2. Modum (MOD)

Modum(MOD) is a supply-chain system that integrates Blockchain technology, smart contracts and sensory devices into a single, passive solution. This integrative solution aims to enhance data integrity across the entire supply chain. Modum’s ICO ended on the 22nd of September, 2017. Modum is located in Switzerland and focusses mainly on farmaceutica supply-chain.

PROS:
  • Experienced team
  • Physical working product
  • Big pilot projects
  • Board members with high functions within the farmaceutica industry
  • Low in price
  • Low Supply
  • Low in market cap

CONS:
  • Not the only supply-chain-token

3. Loopring (LRC)

3. Loopring (LRC)

Loopring (LRC) is a decentralized exchange and open protocol which may herald some interesting changes for the cryptocurrency sector. More specifically, the goal is to shield users from counterparty risks, perform decentralized automatic trades, and reduce the overall cost of buying and selling cryptocurrency. It has all the hallmarks of a big game changer, although it is still too early to tell whether or not it is a feasible concept. Loopring removes a lot of risk factors by not forcing users to send tokens or currencies to a centralized custodial entity.

  • Decentralized Exchange protocol
  • Backed by Qtum Foundation
  • Backed by NEO Council
  • Order sharing
  • Low in price
  • Low in marketcap

CONS:
  • Lack of communication

4. VeChain (VEN)

4. VeChain (VEN)

VeChain (VEN) was designed in Q2 of 2015. Since then it has rolled out multiple smart contract templates and its VeChain smart chip, which will be used to track all products on the blockchain. The VeChain smart chip is essentially an NFC chip, RFID tracker or QR code that tracks whatever it is attached to and protects them from tampering, counterfeiting and ensures that their entire life cycle is stored securely on the blockchain. It essentially makes it easy to track, collect, and store data that otherwise had to be inputted manually with great difficulty. Not to mention, barcodes are very outdated when you look at the way in which technology is moving.

ICON (ICX) is another project that aims to interlink various blockchains, and allow for transactions to be hyperconnected between said blockchains. This is the primary purpose of it, but it can serve other purposes, including identity verification through the blockchain and payment rails.
